Hydro dermabrasion is a gentle and effective facial treatment that deeply exfoliates, cleanses, and plumps the skin, resulting in immediate anti-ageing benefits, improved skin texture, and a radiant glow.

Hydro dermabrasion is based on the concept of simultaneous exfoliation and suction of dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin. It builds upon the idea of microdermabrasion and incorporates an extra step: the infusion of specialised solutions for a deeper pore cleanse.

You might recognise this treatment as the hydrafacial, a branded name for hydro dermabrasion. The process involves using a sophisticated device, and various brands manufacture these machines. Because different salons use different brands, they might refer to the treatment by varying names, including hydro microdermabrasion.

  • After dermabrasion, you may notice smoother, more radiant skin, possibly with a more even skin tone.

    The results are noticeable immediately, without any visible signs of irritation.

  • Although hydro dermabrasion is generally considered complication-free, you might experience slight pressure from the wand during the procedure.

    Compared to some other cosmetic treatments, this is not expected to induce pain or result in redness.

    We’d advise you to avoid undergoing this procedure if you currently have an active rash, such as one associated with rosacea flare-ups.

  • Hydro dermabrasion treatment is designed to help address the excess sebum (oil) and dead skin cells that can lead to breakouts.

    Each hydro dermabrasion session takes an hour, and no downtime is required. Unlike with harsher procedures like chemical peels or microneedling, you can resume your normal activities right away.

    The frequency of hydro dermabrasion sessions depends on your skin type. It is recommended to repeat treatment every 4 - 8 weeks.

    • Avoid hot environments and heat (saunas, sun beds, workouts, hot yoga) for the next 48 hours.

    • Avoid swimming pools for the next 48 hours.

    • Application of SPF30 (min) is recommended (but remember, sunscreen is ALWAYS essential!)

    • Avoid having any aggressive treatments on the hydro dermabrasion treated area ( no exfoliation, peels, harsh skin care products)
